Conforme já aconteceu com outras categorias, a Academia divulgou quais são as canções habilitadas a concorrer pelas indicações ao prêmio.

No dia seis de janeiro, os membros votantes irão ver clipes de todas as 41 músicas em uma ordem randômica. Eles irão dar notas para as músicas, sendo que a nota de corte é 8,25. Se apenas uma música conseguir essa nota, apenas ela e o segundo lugar serão indicadas.
